Joe Rowntree

A bit about me and what I've been up to ...

Joe is a stand-up comedian, actor, writer and presenter. He graduated from Goldsmiths College with a BSc Hons in Psychology. His television career started writing put-downs for Anne Robinson on "The Weakest Link". He has hosted 2 UK tours of "Brainiac Live" which culminated at the Hammersmith Apollo after appearing in all six series of the award-winning hit Sky 1 show "Brainiac: Science Abuse" and recorded a TV stand up special on "Dave's One Night Stand" (Dave). 

Stand-Up Comedy

Joe performs at the most reputable comedy venues and festivals across the UK and International comedy circuit. He has toured in Dubai, Qatar and Bahrain and throughout Europe and America. He was invited to perform at the prestigious Best of Fest package show at the Melbourne Comedy Festival.

He has supported Rhod Gilbert, Stephen K Amos and Sean Hughes on their national tours and has made numerous TV appearances on shows across BBC, ITV, Sky 1 and Channel 4.

Panto

Joe is also an accomplished Panto actor performing the comic role of Buttons in Cinderella 2019 at the Playhouse Theatre in Weston-Super-Mare. He returned to the Playhouse in 2020 to perform his one man stand-up show: Buttons Undone.

Character Comedy

Joe has created many of his own comedy characters for shows at the Edinburgh Festival most notably Morgan Berry: Pet Bereavement Counsellor. For more information you can visit Morgan’s website www.morgan-berry.com

Education

In the day Joe works in schools, colleges and universities all across the UK as a motivational trainer and communication skills coach. He trains Confident Communication Skills workshops geared towards secondary school students. Within the workshops students speak in front of their peers while learning core components around visual, verbal and vocal communication. It provides students with key public speaking and listening skills, which can be used for the rest of their lives. 

Joe also supports students, teachers, parents and lecturers with effective teaching and learning strategies at secondary and tertiary levels. Joe specialises in: Independent Learning Techniques, Memory Skills and Personal Development. These engaging and inspiring workshops equip learners with tools and techniques for future success.
